UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling weighs in on Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler bout later this year

Fans like to see Conor McGregor fight, because of the banter while those who make a living off commenting or covering the fights await all the news. Though Aljamain Sterling is the reigning Bantamweight Champion, he too likes to talk about the fight game on his very own Youtube channel.

Recently, ‘Funkmaster’ decided to chime in on the McGregor vs Chandler fight,

“I think Chandler has all the tools in the world to become a UFC Champion. But he has to put together his fight IQ and figure out does he want to be the entertainer or does he want to win. Make even more money by becoming the champion and get in those pay-per-view points.”

Aljo continued, “And again, I don’t know if he has a special contract where he is getting pay-per-view points, he might already get that, that’s probably why he doesn’t care. But, if he doesn’t, go out there and get the belt, because, at the end of the day, that’s a legacy that they can never take away from you.”

The 135 lb champion reminded Chandler of a serious fact, “How many more fights can you do, keep putting your brain cells on the line? Let’s call it what it is, you’re putting your brain cells on the line.”

How right is Aljamain Sterling?

While no official reasons will probably ever get disclosed, many suspect that ‘Iron’ Michael was picked as the opponent for ‘Notorious’ owing to his fighting style. The former Bellator champ has the wrestling to potentially defeat Conor but he prefers to make more highlights by keeping the fights on standup.

McGregor has not done well in hand-to-hand exchanges against the like of Dustin Poirier either recently, but ‘Punchers Chance’ is a real thing. We will hopefully find out how the fight goes after TUF 31 wraps up.
