UFC Legend Cain Velasquez to Remain behind Bars until Next Month, Court Denies Bail Yet Again

UFC Legend Cain Velasquez has been denied bail by a court in California. He is set to remain behind bars until his next court hearing, which will be held in June of 2022.

Cain Velasquez was arrested after he chased down and shot at two men who were suspected of molesting his relative at a daycare. Cain used his car to ram the victim’s car and fired multiple shots at the driver. He managed to shoot the driver with a semi-automatic .40 caliber pistol. He is said to have 8 rounds of ammunition.

The ex-UFC champion was attempting to murder Harry Goularte, who is also a felon. He was charged with molesting a relative of Cain along with his family members.

Here is a video of the chase of Harry Goularte and his father by the enraged Cain Velasquez:

A majority of the MMA community and fighters have come out in support of Cain. They have launched the “Free Cain” movement in order to fund the support for Cain.

Velasquez’s lawyers have made a claim that he is suffering from CTE or Chronic traumatic encephalopathy due to his years as a cage fighter. The lawyers are trying to prove to the court that his impulsive reaction must have come due to his CTE.

But California judge Shelyna Brown stated in court that this act by Cain was an act which was reckless and did not have any regard for human lives. The judge denied bail to Cain on the grounds that he endangered not only Harry Goularte and his family but also every citizen who was in the vicinity of the car chase and shooting.

Cain Velasquez has a total of 10 charges against him and if convicted could face decades inside prison for attempted murder. His fate may be decided at the next court hearing.
