“Wherever the title is, that’s where I want to be” Belal Muhammad is eager to compete at UFC 286, take on either Leon Edwards or Khamzat Chimaev

Belal Muhammad is desperately looking forward to a title fight after staying undefeated for 9 bouts. He also stated in a recent interview that he would like to fight either Leon Edwards or Khamzat Chimaev in the upcoming UFC 286.

The bout between Belal Muhammad and Leon Edwards at UFC Vegas 21 last year ended in a no-contest after Leon accidentally poked Belal in the eye. Since then, Belal has been calling out the current welterweight champion, Leon, in order to get a shot at the title.

‘Remember the Name’ has fought four more times in the octagon since his fight with Leon, and he has won all of them. During this period, he defeated Demian Maia, Stephen Thompson, Vicente Luque, and Sean Brady, so it’s easy to see why Belal believes he’s ready for a title shot.

Belal revealed in an interview with The Schmo who he wants to face next. He believes Leon should be his next opponent because they did not complete things properly the last time. Otherwise he would like to fight Khamzat Chimaev.

“The only thing that really makes sense now is me against Leon for the title,” Mohammad said.

“Otherwise, you can put me and Chimaev on the same card in London, and I’ll fight him at 179.8 or whatever he came at [at the UFC 279 weigh-ins]. We can do that for a number one contender fight.” he added.

Mohammad may have mentioned Khamzat as a possible opponent, but it is evident that he is keen to fight only Edwards. Belal not only mentioned Leon in various interviews, but he also poked him for fun on social media. On Christmas Eve, he posted a meme about Edwards on his Instagram account, which went viral among UFC fans.

Belal has also stated that he will not wait for a formal octagon fight rather he may just start a fight with Leon even if he sees him in the streets of London.

“I’mma be there [in London for UFC 286]. Wherever the title is, that’s where I want to be… I want to be on that card. If anything happens, I can step in, or if me and Leon see each other in the street, we can show out there too.”

The current Welterweight Champion has not given any official reply to Leon yet. However in his recent retweet he declined the fight offer proposed by Belal calling him a ‘bum’.

Fans are eager to find out what happens next between these two.
