Spanish and FC Barcelona youngster Pedri has been a revelation ever since his debut for the club. The 21-year-old midfielder is a highly rated player by Xavi and the soccer faithful in general. The midfielder posted impressive stats for a player his age scoring 17 goals and 5 assists in his initial 3 years at the club. The midfielder was in conversation with the media, disclosing his ambitions and future plans, both in and out of Barcelona.
FC Barcelona won the Spanish La Liga in the 2022/23 season and will be looking forward to performing even better in the next season. The club has completed the signing of Ilkay Gundogan, Inigo Martinez, and Oriel Romeu to improve the depth in the midfield. Xavi’s side will also love to prove a point as UEFA Champions League soccer is back to the Spotify Nou Camp. The team is currently in the USA for their pre-season preparations, where they recently lost 5-3 to Arsenal.
Pedri on potential move to MLS
As the Barcelona squad is currently traveling in the USA, Pedri was questioned about how did like life in the country. The young midfielder was positive in his assertion about liking the city. He was also questioned about a potential move to the country, after ex-Barcelona players Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba are playing in the MLS with their new club Inter Miami.

The midfielder quoted, “Yes. It’s a league that’s fun to watch, and life here is great.” Pedri added, “There’s a lot to do. The cities here are incredible, and it piques the interest coming over here. But there’s a long way to go before deciding on that.” Along with Pedri, FC Barcelona’s left-back Alejandro Balde was also questioned about the impact of legendry players playing in the MLS, to which he replied, “Yes, it will be good for MLS, at the end of the day it’s Leo Messi, the best player in history, and wherever he goes, it [the league] is going to grow.”
After these quotes, it seems quite possible that Barcelona players will go to the MLS at the latter stages of their careers.
Pedri discloses his ambitions ahead of next season
Although Barcelona won the league title, the club did not perform well in the other major cup competitions. Pedri was also questioned about the ambitions of the club. The midfielder quoted, “I think every year there is pressure at Barca to win all the titles, but now more so,” Pedri added. “We want to show that last year wasn’t a coincidence, that we’re going after it with everything we’ve got, and why not bring the other trophies home?”
Moreover, the 21-year-old also added, “Champions League is one of the principal things that we’re going after with everything we’ve got. We have two years where it hasn’t gone our way, but we want to change that dynamic to turn that around.” Pedri is also very excited to link up with Gundogan, and other players, who he considers as greats of the game.
