Ex-NBA star hails Kyrie Irving’s unique style of play: “He’s the only player that’ll play against you with no plan”

There is absolutely no doubt that Kyrie Irving is an amazing point guard in the NBA today. His unique gameplay and style have drawn an interesting admirer.

Someone who has been with Kyrie through thick and thin is his best judge and there is no better mate than a teammate. So, former Cleveland Cavaliers forward and his beloved team member Iman Shumpert is the ideal person to rely on.

As an experienced player on the court who has spent years alongside him, Shumpert has been a keen observer of Irving’s strategy (or the lack of it). Now, in a recent episode of Gilbert Arenas’ podcast, he has dropped quite the bombs about Kyrie Irving’s style.

Shumpert reveals scary truth on Kyrie Irving’s game

Iman Shumpert said in the show, “You know what’s scary about Kyrie? He’s one of the only players that’ll play against you with no plan… He’d rather play defense on offense. He’s defending the ball and keeping the ball away from you. He starts his point of attack and lets you dictate how this is gonna go.”

Going by his words, Kyrie Irving loves to counter his opponent instead of making a move first. He waits for the defender to take his step, and then takes the lead from there.

The Luka Doncic-Kyrie Irving duo is the leading charge for Dallas at the moment. Although the pair did not have their first half-season most favorably, things might hopefully look sunnier soon.

What team is Kyrie Irving going to?

Among one of the NBA’s most elite talents, Kyrie Irving can make a team better with his mere presence. These are the potential teams that should seriously pursue him to join them as a guard.

The Dallas Mavericks are the first choice to re-sign their star player, while the Rockets, Bulls, Lakers, and Heats are not bad choices either. While some teams can rope him in using cap space, others must use a sign-and-trade agreement to get him in their jersey.

Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving:

The way he played for Brooklyn Nets after a suspension-return, was a sight to behold. He was a great influence on the team, especially on the offense.

As a player who waits for his opponent to make a mistake, Irving’s game is really commendable. He makes every error paid for, making things sway sensationally in his favor by the end of the game.
