Kelvin Gastelum, a former middleweight title contender, will face Shavkat Rakhmonov at welterweight in his return to the division. On September 16, the Mexican Independence Day, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the fight will be the co-main event of a UFC Fight Night event. 

Rakhmonov will enter the ring for the second time this year (17-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC). He defeated Geoff Neal at UFC 285 in a thrilling Fight of the Night contest. The 28-year-old has defeated all five of his UFC opponents, including Carlston Harris via TKO and Alex Oliviera, Michel Prazeres, and Neil Magny via submission.
