Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt reveals bizzare retirement gift from fan

Arizona Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt played the final game of his illustrious career this past Sunday. Although his team was defeated by the San Francisco 49ers, he still managed to record two sacks in the losing effort. Ahead of this last pro outing, he received a bizarre gift from a fan in the mail.

Watt shared the gift on social media, and as usual, Twitter went nuts!

Bizarre gifts aside, Watt finished the 2022-23 NFL season with 12.5 sacks, putting him in second place all-time as far as sacks by a player in his last season, behind Jamir Miller of the Cleveland Browns. By any objective measure, Watt could still be a valuable contributor to the NFL, but he has chosen to move on.

It’s hard to blame Watt for wanting out, especially since his head coach has spent the better part of this season more focused on his much-too-young girlfriend than winning games. Watt’s legacy is already set in stone at this point, and there is nothing left for him to accomplish in his professional career.

As Watt concludes his NFL career, we hope he finds as much success and happiness in his post-playing career as he did as an active star in the NFL. J.J. Watt was one of the greatest defensive ends in NFL history, with his impressive achievements and records set, he will always be remembered as one of the all-time greats.

  1. JJ Watt is the best thing to happen to NFL in a long time. He is an awesome player but more than that, he is an awesome, compassionate and caring person. He has achieved as much greatness off the field as he has on the field. I started watching NFL after I discovered JJ one day while I was checking on Clowney’s progress his first year. (I am a Lifetime Gamecock fan) Everything I read about JJ was great. No one has anything bad to say about him. I got to see him in person a few years ago in Charlotte NC for a pre season game but I wish I could have seen him more.
I wish him well in his next adventure and I know he will love spending so much time with Koa, but I hope he stays a public figure in whatever he does next. I will go into withdrawals if he doesn’t. God speed JJ!
