“It’s a mismatch” Ex-UFC star believes Conor McGregor will KO Michael Chandler on his comeback fight later this year

Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler has already sparked a great deal of debate about who will win, but Eddie Alvarez feels Conor will win and has presented some solid reasons why.

Earlier in February, Chandler has been named as McGregor’s opponent in the eagerly anticipated fight scheduled for later this year, which will mark the long-awaited return of McGregor to the octagon. The Ultimate Fighter will pit them against one another as coaches, though, in the weeks leading to the bout.

UFC fans, particularly McGregor fans, are ready to see the former two-division champion return to the octagon and rediscover his lost form. Alvarez recently appeared on The MMA Hour to provide his thoughts on the mega fight.

What does Eddie Alvarez think about the fight?

In expressing his thoughts, Eddie, who once held the lightweight title, stated that the bout is a big-time mismatch because, based on his experience fighting The Irishman once and losing his title against The Notorious, he does not believe Chandler will get a chance.

“If I had to guess, Mike Chandler doesn’t wrestle. If he stands with Conor, Conor’s going to knock him out. It’s a mismatch”

“Mike Chandler’s defense sucks. He doesn’t have good defense, boxing. He throws bombs, but Conor’s way too fast, way too quick to get hit with anything Mike Chandler is throwing. So I feel like, Mike should wrestle and wrestle quickly, and use that. And if he doesn’t, it’s going to be a bad night”, Chandler added.

The 39-year-old MMA fighter has a long history with Chandler as well, having faced the fellow American twice in Bellator, in addition to his experience against McGregor. However, Eddie now blames Chandler for not completing their fight trilogy even though he showed interest multiple times.

”Just so people know, just so all the fans know right here, right now — I know fans wanted that fight. I know wanted fans wanted me vs. Mike Chandler III. Just so you all know, I want to put it out in the clear. I tried to make that fight happen not once, not twice, but three times, and it’s just not going to happen. That guy does not want to fight me and the fight just never got made.” Eddie added.

Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler’s bout is expected to take place in Dallas Texas Stadium, however the exact location has not yet been determined, per Dana White The T-Mobile Arena, Madison Square Garden, and London are additional options.
