Ever since Lionel Messi made the switch to the MLS, he has taken over America completely. On the field, Messi is a joy to watch, as he has been scoring spectacular goals, freekicks, providing assists and helping Inter Miami win their first trophy in club history. His presence off-field has been massive as well.

Messi has been frequently spotted interacting with soccer fans in Miami. He has single-handedly made the football world look into the MLS and helped Inter Miami become a global brand. And now, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is set to make an appearance in a commercial for the NFL’s biggest event as well.

Every year, NFL fans from around the world come together to watch two of the best teams in the sport battle it out. However, the Super Bowl isn’t only about the sport. It’s also about the half-time commercials and performances. These halftime shows usually have celebrities come and perform who, in return, make a pretty penny.

This edition, however, has a special guest in Lionel Messi. He will be representing Michelob Ultra, known as the “Gatorade of Beer.” Two teasers of the advert dropped on Thursday. In the first video titled “Stand-Off,” he can be seen ordering beer with beers, while in the second video titled “GOAT vs. DOG,” he can be seen running down the beach with his dog while playing with a football.

Lionel Messi stands to earn around seven million dollars from the ads, while Michelob Ultra will have to shell out about fourteen million dollars to feature in the commercial spot, as reported by HOLA!, judging by the rates of the previous. Such a figure should not be surprising given the viewership that the Super Bowl manages to bring in. Last year, the Super Bowl managed to pull in a whopping 115 million concurrent viewers.

To see the full advertisements, however, Messi fans will have to wait until the 11th of February. Last year’s Michelob Ultra ad featured a host of sports stars, including Serena Williams, Tony Romo, Jimmy Butler, Rickie Fowler, Alex Morgan and Canelo Alvarez, while the half-time performances were led by American singer-songwriter Rihanna.

This year’s halftime show, on the other hand, will be led by singer Usher. Regardless, without a doubt, it will be the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner who will undoubtedly be the highlight.
