Yaya Mayweather, also known as Iyanna Mayweather, the daughter of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his former girlfriend Melissa Brim, unfortunately, seems to be following her father’s dark footsteps.

Yaya Mayweather: Early life and background

Yaya was born on May 20, 2000, in Las Vegas, USA, and currently owns a boutique in the same city. Strangely enough, her extravagant birthday gifts have gained her worldwide fame.

At a young age, Yaya Mayweather accomplished her high school education by graduating at 15 and completing her diploma by 18. In 2009, her mother Melissa played a role in establishing a boutique named ‘Devanna Love Boutique.’ Yaya actively engages with her followers on various social media platforms.

 

However, on April 4, 2020, Yaya was arrested and subsequently taken to the Harris County jail in Houston. She faced charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon, with Lapattra Lashai Jacobs identified as the victim in the incident.

Yaya’s sentencing following stabbing case

Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather, the daughter of Floyd, has entered a plea of guilty in relation to the 2020 stabbing incident involving Lapattra Jacobs, the mother of one of rapper Youngboy NBA’s children.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Mayweather, 21, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon at the Harris County Court in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday.

 

The documents state that she acknowledged causing “bodily injury to Lapattra Jacobs” by cutting her “with a knife” in an unlawful, intentional, and unknowing manner.

As a result, she now faces six years of probation for the assault, which may include community service, restitution, or a combination of both. Mayweather was potentially facing up to 20 years in prison for the offense. A court hearing has now been scheduled for June 16, 2022.

After her arrest, Yaya was taken to the Harris County jail in Houston but was later released on bond. Jacobs sustained multiple injuries to her arm and received medical treatment at a hospital, where she underwent surgery.

Fortunately, her injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

The circumstances leading up to the stabbing remain unclear. It is known that NBA Youngboy, whose birth name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, and Mayweather were previously in a relationship. Jacobs is the mother of one of NBA’s children.

In response to Jacobs’ civil suit, NBA Youngboy’s attorney stated that he should not be held liable for damages as Mayweather bears sole responsibility for the assault.
