“Wrong spot at the wrong time” Alabama HC Nate Oats makes controversial remark over Brandon Miller’s involvement in murder of single mother

The 21-year-old crimson tide basketball player, Darius Miles, was involved in the shooting of a young single mother, Jamea Jonae Harris, on January 15 in the Alabama University campus area.

After finding enough evidence, the judge denied his bail and let the prosecution proceed with a grand jury indictment. During a month-long investigation, police discovered numerous stirring pieces of evidence linking the shooters, Michael Davis and Darius Miles.

However, the investigation reveals some truth about another Alabama basketball player’s involvement in Jamea Jonae’s shooting incident.

Who else was involved in Jamea’s shooting incident?

The police found a Crimson Tide basketball player, Brandon Miller, who was involved directly in the killing of the 23-year-old single mother. On Tuesday, the detectives testified about their findings about Miller bringing the murder weapon to the bar.

The 6.9-foot forward played in 27 games as a freshman for the crimson tide, scoring 18.7 points per game. With his involvement revealed, the case took a new turn, and the tide coach Nate Oats has an opinion.

What did Nate Oats say regarding his player’s involvement?

Oats, the tide’s head coach, stood up for his player, but he may have gone too far in defending the forward. The coach said, “We knew about that. Can’t control everything everybody does outside of practice. Nobody knew that was going to happen.”

“College kids are out. Brandon hasn’t been in any type of trouble, nor is he in any type of trouble in this case. Just in the wrong spot at the wrong time,” Nate said, defending Miller. The 48-year-old’s opinion on the case should have made you raise your eyebrows because he almost made an excuse for his player’s actions.

However, later, the coach apologized for his remarks regarding his player’s role and said, “In no way did I intend to downplay the seriousness of the situation of the tragedy of that night.”

“Our understanding is that they have all been dully truthful and cooperative,” Oates explained himself. “My statements came across poorly.”
