After bold claim of beating prime Floyd Mayweather, Terence Crawford gets smacked in the face with reality check by fans: “I can beat Mike Tyson too”

Terence Crawford recently offended the boxing fans by making a bizarre remark ahead of his next big boxing battle. Crawford reportedly said that if they had ever squared off in the ring, he would have defeated boxing great Floyd Mayweather.

Errol Spence Jr. is Crawford’s next opponent, and Crawford is preparing for that bout at the moment. In anticipation of the title fight between the two unbeaten boxers for the undisputed welterweight crown, boxing fans are already on the edge of their seats.

According to ESPN, Crawford and Spence will square off in the much-anticipated bout on July 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. However, the pact also contains a rematch clause that won’t take effect unless the victor of the fight decides to invoke it.

Terence Crawford believes he could have defeated Mayweather

The 35-year-old boxer while talking about his fight against ‘The Truth’ also talked about Mayweather. Even though when Floyd was active, his path never crossed with Terence. Hence it is not possible to predict who would have emerged victorious if they ever fought.

The former three-division world champion is however hopeful that he could’ve defeated ‘Money’. Floyd’s ended his career as an undefeated boxer with an incredible 50-0 record. Terence, at the moment 39-0, is heading to the path of protecting an undefeated record as well.

Boxing fans dismiss Terence Crawford’s claim that he can beat Mayweather

Jack C Mancino made a hilarious comment regarding this issue by saying, ” The easiest way to be a champ to talk about history. So,,when I was 7 years old ,, I would beat Ali if we meet,, prove me wrong.”

“Crawford is a superb talent but let’s not pretend he didn’t just go 6 years without facing a champion. Or anyone in his career anywhere near the level of opposition Floyd has faced.” a user said.

According to Pierre Bless Manny Pacquiao was the only boxer who had would’ve had a real shot as he said, “He wouldn’t have been able to hit him. Pac Man was the only real competition and he didn’t do it either so.”

“Man Crawford getting real vocal lately. Went from quiet and doing his job to thinking he’s a world beater. Still a fan but he needs to chill until after Spence.” another user commented.

Jonathan Ferguson has however taken Crawford’s claim very calmly by saying,” What is he supposed to say? Of course he believes that. Great fighters don’t routinely think they’d lose to current or past fighters in their weight class.”

“We will never know. Would’ve been fun to find out. But Floyd was a master at picking the right time to face the right fighter for the right reward. I don’t think they would’ve ever fought, at least in their prime.” Chris Maathuis said.
