Call of Duty provides update on MW3 and Warzone ranked play offline issue: “Resurgence are back online”

Many players were hit by a strange bug in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone yesterday. This affected the Ranked Resurgence and Resurgence Play modes in both titles.

The issue is the latest in the long list of bugs affecting Call of Duty recently. This time it got so out of hand that Activision shut down the modes temporarily. Thankfully, the developers have provided an update to this situation, and things are looking good now.

Call of Duty MW3 and Warzone Ranked Play back online

The competitive modes for both Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone are back online after being shut down yesterday. Players can now play Ranked Resurgence and Zombies mode on Warzone and MW3 without any problems. The developers shared the news through X this morning. On top of that, players can initiate the Champions Quest without any problems as well.

This was after the Ranked mode in MW3 and Warzone were shut down due to a bug preventing the game from recording the player’s progress. Some players even saw their levels reduced to 1, while the in-game achievements, battle pass, and SR were not showing properly.

Another issue was that the in-game match-making algorithm based on skill was not working. So, players with high ranks were matched with beginners.

Some fans identified the bug as the Minot Myer Error, which existed before and was patched by the developers. But it seems the bug never went away and is the reason for the delays faced by  players yesterday.

Activision would be worried, as Modern Warfare 3 is continuously facing bugs. This is coming on the heels of Microsoft purchasing Activision last year. Recently, Microsoft fired a considerable workforce from Activision, which may include the core team working on this title. It is currently unknown whether that’s the reason why a persistent number of bugs refuse to stop emerging.

What is the issue with the MW3 cruise missile?

Earlier this week, the cruise missile killstreak faced issues of its own in Ranked Play matches. At first, players reported the missile exploding if they were killed during the game. The developers acknowledged this and pushed out a small patch fix. But that apparently broke the cruise missile entirely.

After that, one cannot seem to control the missile once it is launched. Usually, players are able to control the speed and direction of the missile. The developers have not stated if a fix is underway.
