Team Secret hasn’t had the best results in recent years, especially last year at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, where they got 7th–8th place after losing to Team Liquid in the first round of the lower bracket, turned out to be tragic for their roster.
Following the team’s downfall, major changes have been induced by the organisation to gain their status as a “good result-yielding team” back.
Team Secret announce DOTA 2 roster
Team Secret revealed its new roster for the 2024 Dota 2 season just two months ago, as a revival strategy for their team. But in the recent unprecedented turn of events, it has changed the new team’s dynamic again.
Team Secret has signed Singaporean midlaner Teng “Kordan” Tjin Yao and Polish position 4 support player Marcel “Ekki” Hołowienko to replace Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng and Daniyal “yamich” Lazebnyy.
Mid was Secret’s midlaner from 2016 to 2019 and Yamich has been with the team since last March. Meanwhile, Teng “Kordan” Tjin Yao, with the new mid-lane role, has played with Bleed Esports for around two years and Marcel “Ekki” Hołowienko, who previously worked with the team as a coach, will be making his debut in professional competitive playing.
Thus, the new roster is :
- Remco “Crystallis” Arets
- Teng Tjin “Kordan” Yao
- Miroslav “BOOM” Bičan
- Ekken
- Clement “Puppey” Ivanov
The new roster will be playing in the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 WEU closed qualifiers in the upcoming week, beginning from January 11th to January 14th, at the LAN next month.
Fans furious with MidOne’s exclusion
MidOne has achieved three major victories with Team Secret. But his exclusion is a result of his lackluster performance at ESL One Kuala Lumpur and missing out on The International 2023.
MidOne’s and Team Secret’s fans are in a puddle to see the player’s exclusion. They have expressed on various social media platforms their discontentment with the new roster change.
Fans have expressed that, over Crystallis, MidOne’s departure from the roster is a dumb move.
“Cant believe puppey still playing with tier 3 carry. He should have something with crystallis mother or sister thats tje only way.”wrote one fan on twitter (X).
While some even wrote about the hopeless future of the team without the player on their Twitter handles.
