Kareem Jackson to meet commissioner Roger Goodell in New York to get more clarity on his suspension

The Denver Broncos’ safety, Kareem Jackson, is encountering significant challenges this season, but unlike other players grappling with performance or injuries, his hurdles stem from suspensions. Even though he’s facing difficulties, he’s doing his best to deal with the situation and contest the setbacks.

The NFL is ready for his suspension, but Kareem is working hard to fight against it. Now, the safety has chosen to meet with the commissioner to try to resolve his situation.

Kareem Jackson says he’ll meet commissioner

Kareem Jackson is flying to New York to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday. The objective is to seek clarity regarding his latest suspension and gain insight into how the league enforces player safety rules.

Jackson expressed confusion about his treatment, citing instances where other players seemingly engaged in similar actions without facing penalties.

“For me, I see a lot of the same things happening around the league where guys aren’t going through what I’m going through — no flags, no fines, no suspensions,” Jackson said.

He claimed that he is making regular football plays with no malicious intent and wants to understand why he is facing unique consequences.

“I’m not really sure why I’m being treated the way I’m being treated. I’m making regular football plays, nothing malicious in my opinion.”

In his first public comments since the suspension, the safety emphasized his desire for transparency: “I just want to know why I’m the only person going through what I’m going through.”

Considering the recent situation, Kareem Jackson is going to sort out things himself. His meeting with the commissioner will now decide what will happen to him in the future.

Why is Kareem Jackson suspended?

Kareem Jackson is serving his second suspension of the season, indicating a pattern of disciplinary actions. He has faced consequences for five illegal hits throughout the season, resulting in a total of six suspended games.

The Safety returned from a two-game suspension on November 14. The current suspension is for four games and stems from a hit on Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs, where he lowered his helmet.

Having already completed one game of his four-game suspension, Jackson is set to lose $559,889 in salary. This follows a prior two-game suspension where he forfeited $279,000 in salary.

Additionally, he has incurred four fines for unnecessary roughness this season, accumulating a total of $89,670 in penalties.

Jackson voiced dissatisfaction with being banned from the team facility during the suspension, emphasizing the contradictory nature of the league’s actions.

“There’s no clarity. A lot of gray areas. I asked a ton of questions and told them, ‘I’ll be in the same situation, how am I supposed to play or how am I supposed to go about these situations?’”

He expressed concern about being the “poster child” for the league’s agenda.

“Hopefully something comes of this meeting. I don’t think much will, because I don’t even even think they know. At this point, I feel like I’m the poster child for whatever they are trying to get across or prove. So, we’ll see.”

Kareem Jackson also questioned the league’s commitment to player well-being, especially if they lack a support system.

“You can’t tell me that you care about the guys, and then cut them off. What if I don’t have a support system?” the Safety added.
