“No integrity No will to fight the best” Ryan Garcia slams Gervonta Davis over catchweight controversy

The much-anticipated mega-fight between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis has created a clouded situation just at the beginning of the kickoff press conference.

At the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on April 22, a boxing bout between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis is set to take place. Nonetheless, there has been some contention surrounding the weight class in which the competitors are going to compete. Garcia has already criticized Davis for the catchweight issue.

What did Ryan Garcia say to Gervonta Davis?

According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Garcia had previously agreed to fight at a catchweight of 136 pounds; however, he currently weighs somewhere around 146 pounds, which led to a dispute between the boxers. Both American fighters discussed the weight clause during their conversations with BoxingScene.com.

Garcia thinks it just shows what type of person Davis is. According to the 24-year-old boxer Davis failed to show any integrity and will to fight the best version of him.

The Flash KingRy believes that he chose to make this fight happen. Also instead of putting himself first he put the boxing fans and the sports first because he wants to make an impact on this sport by leading the charge.

“Nobody was willing to do it. Terence Crawford didn’t want to do it. Errol Spence Jr. didn’t want to do it. Nobody wanted to lead the charge, so I had to do it. I guess I’m doing it. The one that they didn’t expect to do it. The one that’s supposed to be scared.” said Garcia.

Davis, who was involved in a hit-and-run event that caused the fight to be postponed initially, explained his stance from his perspective in a way that defined his position.

“I wanted the fight to be at 135 pounds. He’s the one that wanted to do it at a catchweight. I fight at 135. That’s my weight class, and that’s what it was supposed to be at. They weren’t going to take the fight if it wasn’t at 136, or a catchweight. Why would I fight him at 140 if he’s bigger than me? That’s just people being a dumbass.” Davis said.

Who do you think is going to come out on top in the highly anticipated fight between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis?
