Report: Josh McDaniels to stick with the Patriots after his wife made him reject Colts offer

When Josh McDaniels was offered the head coach position of the Indianapolis Colts in 2018, it seemed like a dream come true for the Colts fans. But then, something went wrong and McDaniels decided to remain adamant in his current role as the offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots.

After three more seasons, McDaniels was hired as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, but what exactly happened with the Colts?

Recent rumors suggest that McDaniels’ wife was not a fan of the Colts owner Jim Irsay and that this was the reason why McDaniels chose not to take the job. While it may be hard to believe, there have been crazier things that have happened in the NFL, so there might be some truth to the story.

However, McDaniels journey with the Patriots finally came to an end in 2022, as he accepted the role of the Las Vegas Raiders head coach. Despite having an unsuccessful first season, McDaniels is now looking to the future and trying to help the Raiders make a return to the playoffs in the 2023 season.

Many believed that the Patriots had offered McDaniels an offer that he couldn’t refuse, i.e. a shot at becoming the next head coach when Bill Belichick retired. However, that never happened.

It is still unknown what really happened between McDaniels and the Colts, but it is clear that the Raiders’ head coach has moved on and the incident is firmly in the past.

Josh McDaniels has come a long way since 2018. The head coach who was once on the cusp of signing with the Colts is now looking to make a mark with the Raiders. While the rumors surrounding why he chose to stay with the Patriots may never be answered, one thing is certain McDaniels is ready to take the Raiders to the next level.
