“Ridiculous price, and its not for a title”: Fans go crazy as Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia PPV is valued only $5 less of Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor Fight

The super fight between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis will take place in less than a month. The biggest fight of the year has been eagerly anticipated by boxing fans around the globe. But the fight’s PPV costs are also driving fans insane because they were set at just $5 less than the massive showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.

Garcia vs. Gervonta’s highly anticipated boxing match will officially take place on April 22 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas after nearly being called off several times.

Tank and The Flash KingRy have been at odds with one another for a while. Both boxers have engaged in numerous virtual brawls against one another, and they will finally meet in the ring to settle their disagreements in less than a month.

What are fans saying about the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia fight’s exorbitant PPV prices?

The PPV price of the fight between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis, which will be streamed on Showtime.com, has been set at USD 84.99 for the PPV.

As soon as the price was made public, outrageous comparisons were made to the 2017 blockbuster The Notorious vs. Pretty Boy fight, which cost 89.95 USD for normal viewers and 99.95 USD for HD spectators. Some of the fans’ reactions regarding the PPV price are shared below.

TBE refused to pay this much in 2023 saying, “Freeeeee imagine paying in 2023.”

However, according to another user, the price just makes sense. ‘Not a surprise, it’s literally the biggest fight boxing has left. Gotta cash out.’

Ryan DiDonato breaks down the whole pricing with a little bit of analytics.

“What’s wrong with $50? 500k buys at $85 = $42.5mil. 1mil buys at $50 = $50mil. Canelo barely does 1mil buys so to say it’ll do 1mil isn’t impossible but it has to be priced right. It’ll be interesting to see but I don’t think it’s priced right to make the most money possible.”

According to CMP,” Easy to see why people stream these events for free. That price is ridiculous.”

Many users are willing to pay for UFC rather than boxing these days as JG expressed saying,” I have to thank that first Canelo v GGG fight. Saved me a lot of money not having to order any more boxing PPV’s since then. @ufc has the only PPV’s I’m willing to pay for now.”

Many like SJE are also predicting the future of PPV. “I wouldn’t be surprised if $100 PPVs became the norm for most ‘big’ fights by the end of 2024.”

Mortgage Man also thinks the price is high as he tweeted saying, “That price is going to definitely have people streaming the fight, it’s a great fight but that’s too expensive.”

According to Lee Hemphill, “Glad the fight is actually getting made and the price probs has to be this high to get the fight on but come on man the boxing fans getting stung again there has to be a better price system for these big fights.”
