“Gerrard slipping at Anfield was that our fault?” Man City manager Pep Guardiola takes jab at Liverpool ahead of match vs Aston Villa

Manchester City was accused by the Premier League governing body of violating over 100 financial fair play regulations after investigating the situation for more than four years.

City Football Group took charge of Man City back in 2008 as Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is inevitable in terms of success for the football club and very popular among the fans.

According to reports, All Premier League clubs are in agreement on what the punishment for Man City should be if they are found guilty of more than 100 breaches of financial rules.

Pep Guardiola is furious over other PL clubs’ involvement in this delicate issue as the Spaniard issued a warning to them while taking a dig at Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard over his famous slip against Chelsea.

“They want the position of the UCL for the big amount of money to pay the stadiums they built, so it’s okay. The other clubs are jealous and judge us. I don’t know if we are responsible for Steven Gerrard’s famous slip too. Maybe.”

The ‘Steven Gerrard slip’ refers to a famous incident in English football history, where the former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard lost his footing while attempting to control the ball in a Premier League match against Chelsea back in 2014.

This slip led to Chelsea’s first goal in a 2-0 win over Liverpool and is widely considered to have been a significant factor in Liverpool’s failure to win the league title that season.

Clearly, Liverpool wouldn’t be happy with Pep Guardiola said this publicly but to be frank, the Spaniard too didn’t like the interventions made by the other clubs over the situation without proving anything.

According to the English journalist Martin Lipton, Man City’s PL rival as well as other clubs across the division are ‘furious’ about the Spanish Maestro’s public attack on them during Friday’s press conference ahead of the much-anticipated clash against Aston Villa.

It will be very interesting to see what steps other PL clubs are taking following the fight of words with the Man City manager but surely the title fight is going to be super exciting, especially after the burst up.
