VALORANT: How to uninstall the game before episode 8 act 2 starts?

With Episode 8 Act 2 of VALORANT approaching on March 5th, some players may be looking to take a break from the competitive shooter. They might even want to go as far as uninstalling it, but that is unfortunately a bit more complicated than usual, thanks to the Vanguard anti-cheat software that comes with it.

Here is a simple guide on how to completely uninstall VALORANT from your Windows PC, which will allow you to successfully free up space on the computer, or just simply let you take a break if you’re addicted!

How to remove Valorant from your PC?

First and foremost, the Vanguard anti-cheat software must be disabled. Right-click the icon of Vanguard in the system tray that is hidden icons area and exit Vanguard. It looks like a shield.

Then you can use two major approaches to uninstall. First, open the Control Panel, navigate to Programs and Features, find VALORANT, right-click on it and select Uninstall. Second, open the Settings app, go to Apps, locate VALORANT within the list, and then select Uninstall.

Follow the prompts on your screen by deciding on a method that will initiate the uninstallation process. Follow the instructions on your screen until the removal is complete. And then remove residual files but even though uninstallation gets rid of core game files, some residual files may be left behind. To ensure thorough removal: Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Riot Games\VALORANT. Right-click the VALORANT folder, then choose the delete option.

Finally, restart your computer after completing these steps so that all changes take effect successfully.
