“Stay in your lane” Floyd Mayweather Jr fires back at Critics following his last exhibition’s empty seat speculation

You either go down a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain- such words seem to fit former undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr quite well. The American boxer announced his retirement a very long time ago but can’t stop participating in exhibition matches and fans do not seem to like his recent ventures.

Reality TV star Aaron Chalmers took on Mayweather for an exhibition match in the O2 arena in London on February 25th. The seats for the fight were not full and many brought back the old criticism regarding his actual ‘retirement’. But ‘Money’ was not ready for the criticism coming his way as he clapped back on social media.

On Instagram, he wrote, “Sitting back with no bumps, bruises, scars or head trauma from that 16-minute heist with no mask in London. The GREENPRINT is to constantly make money & stack money. Get yourself a business and stay out of other people’s business. Stay in your lane.”

Why are people reacting this way to Floyd Mayweather Jr?

Mayweather’s response to critics seems rather ridiculous. The people he now advises to mind their own businesses once probably paid for his fights. If the emptying arenas were already not clear indications enough, fans are getting tired of seeing the once dominant boxer take on these casual opponents.

Floyd already boxed Logan Paul and did not manage to knock the Youtuber down during the entire 8 rounds. He also tried to fight Jake Paul but that fight never materialized. There are companies still willing to pay him for these exhibition matches so we should expect to see him tarnish his legacy further.

When someone builds their career over the admiration of fans, he should try to respect them with his actions. If Mayweather Jr stayed retired after the Conor McGregor fight, fans probably wouldn’t have complained.

Would you still pay to see Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather fight?
