Valorant Champions Tour 2024: Format, schedule, location, and more

It has been 4 years since the Varlorant has been in the competitive world of gaming. While generally there are many streamers on platforms like Twitch and Kick, which have earned millions of dollars by just playing the game in front of viewers, there are many professional players as well who play the game in its annual championships. Previous winners of the tournament were Acend in 2021, LOUD in 2022, and Evil Geniuses in 2023.

Around 30 teams participated in the Valorant Champions Tour 2023, and the top 16 qualified for it. With the season over, Riot Games is all set to lavishly launch its Valorant Champions Tour 2024, kicking off in January.

There have been significant changes inducted in this fourth circuit of the Valorant Champions Tour. These changes comprise two Masters events, the kick-off season, the addition of a new region to the VCT, the return of championship points, and the affiliate program.

Leo Faria, the Global Head of Valorant eSports, says about the new VCT 2024:

“We’re extremely proud of what we accomplished this year, in particular how our teams stepped up to promote the sport and their players, and we’re eager to unlock more opportunities in 2024 to highlight the best in the game. We’re making changes to the season design and scope of our events for better progression, expanding our global footprint, and creating new ways for players and fans to experience VALORANT.”

The tour will start with the Kick-Off International League in February 2024. The first Masters will take place in Madrid, Spain, in March 2024, while the second Masters will happen in Shanghai, China, in May 2024.

Every Tier-2 (Challengers) will be followed by playoffs and the Challengers Ascension Tournament will be played after the Champions (August–December). The Game Changers Championship in November will end the 2024 season.

Kick-off Tournament

It will be a two-week tournament happening in each international league. The top two teams from the four regions will qualify for the Masters Madrid, the first global event.

Champions points, which will serve as a basis for qualification to global events, are again coming in the 2024 season, unlike earlier seasons where teams had to earn circuit points first. to qualify for Champions.

The top-performing teams in each region with the most Champions points will also make it to the Valorant Champions, the event all teams strive to qualify for at the start of the year.

The affiliate partnership will facilitate any VCT-partnered team in Tier-1 (international leagues) and Tier-2 (challenges and game changers) to trade players or allow loans within their rosters.

China to be included in Valorant Champions Tour 2024

The VCT will welcome China as the fourth partnered league next year, which will have the same path as the Pacific, Americas, and EMEA leagues. In 2023, China joined other regions in the Masters (Tokyo) and Champions (Los Angeles) tournaments and made a mark.

China is scheduled to host the second Masters of 2024 VCT in Shanghai. The South Asian country will also hold its own Chinese league. With China launching Valorant on its 1-year anniversary, it will be a great addition for the players in that region.
