“Bigger brothers set it up” Tyson Fury recalls first fight he had as a nine-year-old with neighbor

Tyson Fury, the two-time world heavyweight champion, has fought 34 times and won 33 of them in his nearly 14-year long professional boxing career. But against whom did he have his first fight in his childhood? Fury has shared an old memory in a podcast recently.

Twenty years of age marked the beginning of The Gypsy King’s professional boxing career. In remembering about his very first fight, he travels back in time. Fury shared some details of his first fight while talking in Raw: The Fight Within podcast.

Fury became nostalgic while reminiscing his first fight. He does, however, recall it being against one of his neighbors. Fury got into that fight with his next-door neighbor and his older brother set it up.

“I remember having a fight with my next door neighbor. The two bigger brothers set it up and he said to me, ‘Oh, do you wanna fight the lad next door?’ I said, ‘Yeah, whatever if you want.’ Fury said in that podcast.

Who would have guessed that kid would go on to become one of the world’s most famous boxers? Fury was about 9 or 10 years old at the time. What he did for fun that day turned out to be his passion and everything in the later part of his life.

“I was about 10, 9 I was. For no reason, just like set it up for a bit of fun for the older brothers. We went around and we had a little dust up on the front lawn for no apparent reason. The trousers kept falling down.” Fury added.

Even after a successful professional boxing career, Fury considers it one of the most profound memories of his life.
