Ex-WWE champion Victoria reacts to Trish Stratus’ “Widow’s Peak” at WWE Payback.

The WWE Payback ring has a long tradition of delivering world-class entertainment. Wrestlers often pay tribute to their best friends and old rivals each week, either by performing an iconic move in their honor or by mocking them if it fits into the WWE narrative. Tonight, in the steel cage fight between Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus, similar traditional tributes were incorporated for two WWE superstars.

Using the ring name “Trish Stratus,” Stratigeas made her WWE debut as a professional wrestler in March 2000. The seven-time WWE Women’s Champion had an extensive history in the ring, particularly with her biggest rival, Lita, resulting in a storied rivalry. Despite her loss in today’s match, the 47-year-old champion received a standing ovation from the crowd for her courageous performance in the ring.

Victoria reacts to Trish Stratus move at WWE Payback

Former tag team partners from WrestleMania 39, Trish and Becky, squared off today. After losing the Tag Team Title four months ago, Trish turned on Becky. At Night of Champions, Trish utilized Zoey Stark as her secret weapon and emerged victorious. Lynch also finally got the rematch she had been hoping for in last night’s Payback.

As a tribute to Lita and Victoria, they both executed spectacular moves within the cage, such as the “Twist of Fate” and “Widow’s Peak.” Lynch performed the “Twist of Fate” on Trish in honor of their old tag team teammate, Lita, while the Hall of Famer “Trish Stratus” paid her respects to the former WWE Women’s Champion “Victoria” with a Widow’s Peak.

The tribute for them was planned because the fight between Lita and Victoria was the first-ever women’s steel cage match on RAW, which occurred 20 years ago on November 24, 2003.

Victoria emerged victorious over Lita in that match. This was also the first time the two superstars had faced off in a cage. After witnessing the exceptional “Widow’s Peak” move in the cage fight, Victoria couldn’t help but express her gratitude to Stratus.

“I don’t know where to begin. I want to thank Trish Stratus and WWE for the huge homage. I’m am beyond honored and flattered for the love. Trish has been such an amazing friend and supporter of mine. I am beyond grateful. I love you so much Trish.“, Victora said.

Trish received standing ovation from crowd

In today’s match, Lynch received cheers from the fans, while Stratus was initially jeered. Zoey Stark’s intervention added to the excitement of their back-and-forth contest. Lynch secured victory with a Man-Handle Slam off the cage.

Tensions escalated when Stark offered her assistance to Stratus, but Stratus declined and wished to finish the match on her own. This decision disappointed the intervening guest, leading her to retaliate with a Z-360, causing Stratus to crumble under the pressure.

Almost two decades after leaving WWE, Trish returned full-time and adopted a villainous persona for the first time since 2004. In her match against Lynch, she showcased her resilience despite being 47 years old.

As the Canadian wrestler superstar endured massive hits like a Man-Handle Slam from the top rope and a Superplex from the steel cage, the live crowd gave her a standing ovation as she left the ring, recognizing her remarkable efforts.

Do you believe it’s feasible that at the age of 47, she’ll win the women’s title for the eighth time? Don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comment section.
