‘Exhausted, dehydrated, cramping’ Ex-NFL DT Derek Wolfe slays Mountain Lion ‘wreaking havoc’ in Colorado

NFL players are known to be tough. The way players collide on the field and put their bodies in the line is impressive, to say the least. Even after ending their careers, many athletes from the NFL continue to execute the practice of “dare-devil” like activities. Derek Wolfe is of no difference.

Apart from his Footballer identity, Wolfe is a licensed hunter. With the number of Mountain Lions increasing near the Colorado town- approximately 4000 to 6000 male Lions- he had to step in to assist his townspeople by slaying a ‘wreaking havoc’ Mountain Lion.

Moreover, after saving his neighborhood from the jaws of the ferocious beast, Derek Wolfe explains how he proceeded to his fans on Instagram.

What did Derek Wolfe say in his Instagram post?

Wolfe on Friday shared an incredible picture where he is holding the gigantic beast. In the post, Derek wrote,

“*Predator Control* 🚨 Late Tuesday night I got a call from @huntnest to see if I wanted to stalk a giant Tom (male mountain lion) who has been wreaking havoc in a rural neighborhood. He had already killed two of her dogs and was living under her porch, nervous about what he might do next. We found a fresh 4×4 mule deer he had just killed. We hiked straight up 2500ft and down the other side, then back up again, back down the other side, and then back up again to 9600ft.”

Then, he continued, stating, “Exhausted, dehydrated, cramping I drew back my @hoytbowhunting and sent an @sevrbroadheads through him. Then I had to crawl backwards down the mountain with him to get him to the truck I fell 10ft off a rock face on the way down lol. Any guess how big this thing was?”

Furthermore, the picture got viral within hours, and many people criticized Derek for killing the Lion. In “The Drive” podcast, Wolfe explains why he needed to kill the predator. Derek said that the Lion brought fear into the neighborhood, especially a woman, as the beast was “hiding under this lady’s porch down the road,” and the woman requested the wildlife group of Colorado Parks to “get rid of him.”

On the other hand, the Lion also killed many other animals, including Derek’s dog, a “full-grown” deer, and elks, so there was no chance that Wolfe was going to “let him get away” and so, to protect the wildlife and his neighborhood he had to kill it.
