‘It was a few mind games’’: Eddie Hearn drops truth bomb on Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte boxing bout

Is Anthony Joshua genuinely oblivious to the ongoing discussion with Dillian Whyte about their upcoming boxing match, or is this all just a mind game leading up to the battle? Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, recently discussed the topic and provided specifics about the fight.

On Twitter, Joshua and Whyte have been trading sharp remarks. Initially, it seemed that it might just be two boxers typically joking around without any real intent to fight but now after what Eddie said, all of this seems like a pre-fight verbal altercation to spice things up.

Eight years ago, on December 12, 2015, Anthony and Whyte fought at London’s O2 Arena while both of them were still undefeated. The Body Snatcher’s run of triumphs came to an end in the seventh round when AJ beat him.

Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte confirmed date?

There is currently no fixed date for the battle between the two heavyweights. But AJ recently stated in his Instagram story that that he is unaware of any negotiations to face Dillian Whyte, adding, “I don’t know about any talks to fight Dillian Whyte.”

The Body Snatcher decided to counterattack his former ring adversary by stating, “How about you stop being a b*tch. Let’s make the fight you f**king weird guy.”

Amid the ongoing disputes and verbal sparring between the two heavyweight rivals, Eddie Hearn has some good news for fans of boxing. In an interview with BBC Sport, the boxing promoter provided information on the most recent update of the fight.

“The order was made to Dillian over the weekend. We are waiting for his response to that and we’ll talk today.” Eddie said.

After losing back-to-back fights to Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua got back on the winning track by defeating Jermaine Franklin in April. Eddie stated following his decisive victory that they still have their sights set on bigger fights for this summer.

“Our plan, which we’ve stressed, is for AJ to box on 12 August and in December again against Deontay. The negotiations will be difficult but both AJ and Whyte want the fight.” Eddie added.

Will Anthony Joshua fight at the Saudi tournament in December?

The head of Matchroom Boxing also discussed the possibility of a major boxing event that could happen in Saudi Arabia at the end of this year. Hearn said there is still a chance for the boxing tournament involving Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Deontay Wilder.

“There’s a lot going on with the whoile Saudi Arabian set up. They want to do AJ against Deontay Wilder. They want to do Tyson Fury against Usyk, and they want to do that on the same night, which is a huge ask.” Eddie said.

However, Joshua just recently revealed to KayPhysical that Deontay Wilder is the opponent he has in mind for his bout in December. The Briton said that The Bronze Bomber and he would fight in Saudi Arabia in December.
