Since the July 18 episode of “NXT” Dominik Mysterio is the North American Championship. It is his first reign as a singles champion. Previously, He held the “SmackDown” Tag Team Championship alongside his father Rey Mysterio in 2021.
But the father and son duo got into a dispute with each other after Dom betrayed Rey Mysterio. Later Dominik Mysterio joined the faction Judgement Day and with the help of his faction members, he won the North American Championship title.
Dragon Lee to face Dominik Mysterio at WWE NXT North American championship match
During the NXT Great American Bash event, Dominik Mysterio successfully defended his title against former champion Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali. The Judgment Day member wasn’t able to achieve this victory all by himself. WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley aka The Eradicator helped Dom in retaining his title.
After the match, Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley caused some troublesome incidents. At one point, Dominik refused to shake hands with WWE Legend Shawn Michaels aka The Heartbreak Kid. After that, he and Rhea insulted Dragon Lee. Ripley called him a “wannabe Rey Mysterio” and Dom called him “unoriginal” for looking like his father Rey Mysterio and called himself an “original”.

On This week’s episode of “NXT,” it was announced that Dragon Lee is going to get a match for the North American Title.
Rey Mysterio to be in Dragon Lee’s corner at the WWE NXT title match
After the match between Dragon Lee and The North American was announced. The Eradicator revealed that she was “of course” going to be in Dom’s corner to support him, which led to Lee announcing that he is going to have Hall of Famer “Rey Mysterio” in his corner, with Rey Mysterio appearing in a video message to address his son.
