“It’s suicide” UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira warns Francis Ngannou against boxing debut vs Tyson Fury

The fact that Francis Ngannou has stated his intention to begin a career in boxing and compete against Tyson Fury is now common knowledge in the world of combat sports; however, Alex Pereira has cautioned Francis about the potential results of the battle.

Many have always felt that Francis, who is widely considered the scariest fighter in the history of the UFC owing to his great punching abilities, would give any professional boxer a difficult time in the ring if he ever decided to leave the world of mixed martial arts.

The Cameroonian-French fighter had earlier offered a fight to the boxing superstar Tyson Fury, and Fury later reacted by accepting the bout, albeit with some unique regulations and with Mike Tyson serving as the referee.

If Francis Ngannou is truly interested in making a career out of boxing, Alex Pereira, the current champion of the middleweight division in the UFC, believes that Ngannou should rethink his decision to fight against someone like Tyson Fury.

“[Boxing against] Tyson is hard. It’s suicide. There are other guys for him to start. [He can go] one step at a time. If he really wants to fight those guys, then he’s just thinking about the money. I don’t know if that’s the case. But to say ‘I’m going there because I want to become champion,’ that’s hard. ” Pereira said in an interview with the MMA Hour.

The Brazilian has his worries about Ngannou’s ability to defend, and he believes that Ngannou will exhaust himself against the two-time heavyweight champion of the world, which will result in him losing the fight.

“I’ll give you a dumb example: If you ask someone who’s never trained in his life to go against someone experienced and tell him to hit as hard as he can to knock him out. He’ll gas out in three minutes, and then one weak punch will knock him out since he has no defense anymore and can barely stand still. To me, knowing how to defend yourself is the most important thing.” Pereira further added.

The Gipsy King is currently focused on a potential fight against Oleksandr Usyk and if that doesn’t happen only then he will be looking to get Francis in a cage under some special hybrid rules for a bout.

What do you think the British boxing icon will battle next, The Predator or The Cat?
