MJF speculates WWE future ahead of 2024 AEW contract expiry

Maxwell Jacob Friedman, also known as MJF, is the current AEW World Champion in All Elite Wrestling Promotion. Even being one the best heels in the company, MJF seemingly had turned himself into a babyface character and aligned himself with Adam Cole.

However, on the latest edition of AEW Collison, MJF again teased leaving the company when his contract will expire. Moreover, this is not the first time when MJF had revealed his desire to join the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

MJF sparks WWE speculations with AEW Collision promo

In the main event of AEW Collision, MJF, and Adam Cole teamed up to face FTR for the AEW World Tag Team titles. The unlikely duo had earned this title shot in the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament. However, the match’s final moments favored FTR, as Harwood rolled up the AEW World Champion and retained their Championship.

Moreover, after the match, there was a slight difference seen in MJF’s attitude, but he ended up sharing a hug with Adam Cole. However, during the post-match promo, the AEW World Champion teased and hyped speculation about leaving AEW and joining WWE.

“And I don’t want to hear about Collision vs. Dynamite, I don’t want to hear about Kaboomers vs. Colliders, because at the end of the day what this sport needed was an alternative and that is why this company was made. The way I see it we are all on team AEW … for now, until 2024 but we can talk about that later.”

For those unaware, reports stated that the AEW contract of MJF is set to expire in early 2024. So the AEW Collision promo seems to be an indication that he will only remain in AEW till 2024 and then he will surely leave the company.

AEW World Champ expressed desire to join WWE previously

On various occasions and in interviews, MJF has revealed his desire to join the big leagues, much like Cody Rhodes did. According to some previous reports, MJF has even told many superstars in AEW that he might join WWE in 2024 when his AEW contract expires. It appears that the overall intention of the AEW World Heavyweight Champion is to follow the path of the American Nightmare and ultimately join the Stamford Based Promotion.

Additionally, at one moment, he expressed his interest in facing Kevin Owens in a match if he joins WWE in 2024. Overall, it seems like a bidding war is taking place between both promotions for MJF, and given Maxwell’s interest, it appears that WWE might be winning that bidding war.
