Looking back, Rhodes’ decision to leave AEW was a wise move, as he had been receiving mixed reactions despite being a babyface. Additionally, he had been barred from ever competing for the AEW World Championship following his loss to Chris Jericho in a stipulation match.

As the match neared its conclusion, Roman Reigns received assistance from his associates, Paul Heyman and Solo Sikoa. Heyman diverted the attention of the referee while Sikoa executed a Samoan spike on Rhodes. Allowing Reigns to strike him with his signature spear and secure the victory.
This title reign is too historic to end in a seemingly meaningless feud. Sami beating Roman at Mania was the right call, but without that it has to be Jey.

WWE WrestleMania disappoints fans
At WrestleMania 38, Rhodes burst onto the WWE scene with a fresh look, quickly becoming a fan favorite and rising to top star status. Even when he suffered a serious injury. Rhodes continued to gain popularity as he battled Seth Rollins in a memorable match with a torn pec muscle.
Rhodes solidified his position as a dominant force with impressive segments against Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. And unlike Cena and Reigns, he did not face backlash from fans who believed he was being unfairly favored as the company’s top star.
As many disillusioned fans left WWE to support AEW. Rhodes was embraced by a more cooperative fanbase who eagerly followed his journey.
Cody Rhodes must have been disappointed after his defeat to Roman Reigns, and AEW stars took to Twitter to express their sympathy and support for him.
However, Rhodes can take solace in the fact that he gave an excellent performance for the fans and that his fellow AEW stars have his back. Which shows he is not alone in his time of despair.
